RCDW is working toward a Tennessee grounded in racial, gender, and economic justice, where every person is valued, supported, and empowered to build a more equitable future.

Our story

RCDW is a grassroots, all-volunteer organization working to advance Democratic values, policies, and candidates. We are one thread in a broader movement of Tennesseans who, through many different forms of advocacy and action, are working together to transform our state.

We believe in building collective power to create a Tennessee where every person has the opportunity to thrive, with equitable access to the resources and support they need to live full and meaningful lives. Together, we work to challenge and dismantle systems and policies that create barriers, harm communities, and deny people justice and opportunity.

The Mission of RCDW is:

  • to encourage and support women and non-binary people to assume leadership roles in government, including both public and party offices

  • to recruit and develop leaders among women and non-binary people in Rutherford and surrounding counties

  • to educate Democrats and the community on local, state, and national issues and proposed legislation that affect women and non-binary people, their partners, and families; and to advance coalition and consensus building within the group and between the group and external partners

  • to support the activities of the county and state party, and allied Democratic organizations

  • to support the Democratic nominees in general elections
